Shooting hardened steel or AR500 steel can be dangerous. Please always use caution and common sense. Bullet fragments and ricochets will go in different directions when shooting steel (Keep a safe distance for you, others, and any personal property). Targets should never be hung 90 degrees unless swinging; use a spring that allows the bullet splatter to be directed downwards away from the shooter or directly angled downward from the stand. Hanging the target with the target face pointed slightly downward will help direct the bullet splatter down and reduce the risk of injury. Always have a proper backstop behind the target and know what is beyond the target. Everyone in the area must wear ear and eye protection. Make sure nothing is flammable around. When shooting pistol caliber ammunition, ensure the target is at least 10 yards away and 25 yards when shooting magnum pistol ammunition. When shooting rifle calibers, ensure you are at a minimum distance of 100 yards. High-velocity ammunition (3000+ FPS) should be placed 200 yards or more, or damage to the target may occur. It's crucial to note that using AP, Steel Core, steel jacket, other hardened bullets, or solid copper ammunition is dangerous, will damage your target, and may cause fires from sparks! Never use BBs, pellets, or airsoft; they do not have the force to splatter and will bounce back. If the target becomes bent, cracked, or damaged in any way, the target must be replaced.
